I can’t believe I stumbled upon an article on Mumbai which says that the financial capital of India, our very own sexy Mumbai, is rated as the 7th filthiest city in the WORLD. I mean, can you believe if someone told you that offhand?? I wouldn’t. But it’s right there… you can check the article yourself: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080043169

I’m at awe when they say that the heart of Indian film industry, the place where some of the best Bollywood movies have been directed… where places like Malabar Hills, Valkeshwar, Church Gate and the likes are much cleaner. I mean, rating a city for mere cleanliness is not the way to go about. The people need to be educated; they need to be fed with the basics (awareness), without which it’s simply not fair to rate the place unfit or dirty or ‘filthy’ as they say! What about the growing number of tourists that this place receives. Do they just leave because they can’t stand the city anymore, cos it’s so filthy that they just want to run away? There are so many foreigners who throng this place. The colonies, the beaches, the posh localities are far more cleaner than what they say! I’m more than sure that there are hundreds of other places in this world which need a check before just putting down a random list and claiming that their study is right!

Educate the poor first, let there be awareness, and then let’s talk about the place which is of lesser importance when compared to the people living there. To do all that, the governing body needs a major check first!
